How to reach Coral Bay
Coral Bay lies about 1,200 km north of Perth. There is no direct flight to the town. The three realistic routes are driving, the coach from East Perth, and a flight to Learmonth (Exmouth) followed by a road transfer. The first two take most of a day or more, so plan overnight stops if you drive.
This guide is independent and is not run by any transport operator or authority. Times and fares are published figures and can change, so confirm them before you book.

Perth to Coral Bay compared
Published figures for the three main routes.
| Route | Time | Cost or fare | Notes |

Tours once you arrive
Manta swims, glass bottom boats and quad treks start in Coral Bay itself.
Driving from Perth to Coral Bay
The route, the fuel stops and the road rules.
The route
Follow the North West Coastal Highway north, then turn toward Coral Bay. In town the main street is Robinson Street. A detour to Kalbarri or Monkey Mia adds time. Treat 12 hours as the minimum for the drive alone, not a one-day target with breaks.
Fuel
The accommodation operator names the Billabong and Overlander roadhouses along the highway. Check opening hours and fuel availability before long stretches. In Coral Bay, a card-only fuel pump is open 24 hours according to Peoples Park.
Road safety
Drive on the left. Remote stretches and animals appearing suddenly raise the accident risk, and there can be gaps in mobile coverage. Check road status on the Main Roads travel map before you leave.
Weather and season
Cyclone season runs from November to April and can affect roads. See the weather guide for monthly temperatures.
By coach from Perth
The Integrity northbound timetable.
Integrity Coach Lines departs East Perth Train Station on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 19:30. The service reaches Coral Bay the next day, with a stop at the Ningaloo Club on request at 11:00. The coach continues at 11:30. That makes a scheduled time of 15 h 30 min. The Ningaloo Club is a stop in the town itself, not only a turn-off on the highway.
The timetable is the operator's published schedule. A PDF timetable dated 1 July 2024 is out of date, so use the current schedule. A current adult fare and the full return timetable should be confirmed with the operator before you plan.
Flying to Learmonth and the transfer
The nearest airport is Learmonth (LEA), which serves Exmouth. Qantas lists the route from Perth. A local accommodation operator describes daily connections, so confirm the schedule and fare for your date. The airport sits on the Exmouth side of the reef, covered by the Ningaloo and Exmouth guide.
Ningaloo Coral Bay Airport Transfers runs daily, and booking in advance is required. The fare between Learmonth and Coral Bay is A$105 per adult and A$55 per child aged 0 to 12 each way. A minimum of 2 adult fares applies, so solo travelers need to find a co-passenger. Holiday and excess-luggage surcharges are possible, and the amount is not published.
The trip takes 1 h 15 min according to Peoples Park and about 90 minutes according to the Ningaloo Coral Bay operator. Plan for the longer time.

Parking at Learmonth and entry to Australia
Two practical points before you fly.
Parking at Learmonth, 2026/27
The council's fee schedule from 1 July 2026 gives the first 4 hours free, then A$12 per 24 hours or A$70 per week. This applies at Learmonth, not in Coral Bay.
Entry for German citizens
Your passport must cover your stay. Apply for the visa or ETA before you travel. The free eVisitor (subclass 651) is valid for 12 months and allows up to 3 months per stay. Other nationalities have different rules. Declare food, plant and animal products on the arrival card, because Australia enforces strict quarantine.
